Description: goldwashed sterling, rhinestones, lucite
Marked: Marner Sterling
Reference: Marner was founded in Providence RI by Julio J Marsella in 1946 - see http://www.milkywayjewels.com/julio_article/julio.html Marsella was granted at least four design patents in 1946-47, some referencing Philippe (eg Des Pat No 147917). This pin is a fine quality nearly exact copy of the 1943 patented Trifari Philippe Jelly Belly Hummingbird - see TKF8154 - manufactured after the March 1943 Trifari patent had expired (3.5 year term, so Sept 1946), Compare the Marner Sterling Jelly Belly Sailfish, using another expired (1941) Trifari patent DAZ2081. In each case, the lucite fits less exactly in its settings than in the Trifari originals
