Reference: Part of Trifari's spring 1948 'Renaissance' collection, based on earlier designs (three of them - the hatchet, heart, and treble clef - patented in 1941); described in Women's Wear Daily, 16 Jan 1948, p 33; advertised with the rest of the series, for sale at Lester's Smart Shop, price $15 plus tax, in The [Bryan TX] Eagle, 3 May 1948, p 6; click thumbnail above to view advertisement. The original 1941 enamel four leaf clover, on which this design was based, was not then patented.
