Reference: Featured for sale at Saks Fifth Ave, in the New York Times, 20 Sept 1942, p D3; click thumbnail above to view advertisement. The design was patented eighteen months later, presumably to protect against design piracy - reproduced below (scroll down); designer A Philippe, filed Feb, granted March 1944.
