Reference: Advertised for sale at Saks Fifth Ave, 'a snowflake of dark red and blue stones', price $17 plus tax (without attribution of designer), in Vogue, 15 Nov 1950, cover and p 79; click thumbnail above to view advertisement. The designer is confirmed by the companion sapphire starburst pin shown in Vogue, which was advertised as 'from a collection' of 'our fabulous Schreiner jewelry', priced $4.95 to $18.95, in the [Boise] Idaho Daily Statesman, 18 Dec 1950, p 6; scroll down to view advertisement. Use of sterling in this example dates it to 1951-52; the Korean War restrictions on use of white metal increased use of sterling in (eg) Boucher's jewelry lines from zero in late 1950 to 50% in fall 1951; he anticipated it would be 100% in 1952 (interview in Women's Wear Daily, 5 Oct 1951, p 31)
