Reference: Mark, design, construction, and non-use of Sterling date this to 1941, part pf a series of pins of couples in the national costumes of various nations - see Brunialti, American Costume Jewelry - Art and Industry (2008) Vol 1 p 96, a Womens Wear Daily 1 March 1940 reference to a series of figurine pin clips from different countries. The suggestion of Gypsy costumes is strengthened by the fact that the lady dancer is barefoot
