Reference: Kenneth Lane, Faking It, p. 85, dating this to the 1960s, picturing a much later edition on a huge pearl - the text reads 'I [KJL] purchased it [his original 1960s original, this item] from a vintage shop in the 1980s' and this inspired his later reworking of the design
